This hair snood is available in black, navy blue or (off) white and is extremely versatile. The "hair snood" has a long history, with its most recognizable form becoming popular during World War II when women in factories wore them to keep their hair from getting caught in machinery; essentially, it's a net-like bag worn at the back of the head to hold hair, with earlier versions appearing in various forms throughout history, including as a decorative hairnet in the Victorian era and even a ribbon-like circlet worn by Scottish women as a symbol of chastity known as a "Scottish snood.". Evidence suggests hairnets, a precursor to the snood, existed as far back as the Bronze Age, with ancient civilizations like the Greeks and Romans using various head coverings to contain hair. "Snood" was used to describe a variety of head coverings, including cloth or net-like hats, often with decorative elements, worn by women in the Middle Ages. During the 1940s, snoods were not only functional but also considered a fashion accessory, with various colors and materials to match outfits. The snood is a great accessory for Game of Thrones, Halloween, WWII looks, dance routines, Medieval Days, ancient looks like those of the Romans and Greeks, Renaissance Festivals, theatrical productions and more. Wig, dress, necklace and gloves not included. The snood has an elastic opening and can be stretched over nearly any length hair or twisted over buns and other hair styles (you may need hair pins to keep them in place - not included). Other costumes and accessories are sold separately on our page - subject to availability. One size fits most adults, teens and some larger children.
